The local government of San Jose under the leadership of Mayor Antonio B. Chavez and the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) has jointly celebrated the 22nd National Children’s Month from October 1-31, 2014 with the theme: “Bata Kasali ka, Ikaw ay Mahalaga”. The celebration kicked off on October 3, 2014 at around 7:00 in the morning at the Municipal Plaza of San Jose town.
The event was participated in by the different barangay daycare centers, namely: St. Mary and St. Joseph in Poblacion, Sibol in Talisay, Dolo, Sabang, Calawit, Tambangan, Pugay, Manzana, Calalahan, Kinalansan, Telegrafo, Boclod, Tagas, Palale, Bagacay, Catalotoan, Bahay, Mampirao, Salogon, Ponglon, Danlog, Tominawog, Soledad, Camagong, and Minoro.
The celebration highlighted the awareness of children around San Jose as demonstrated by the different participating Day Care Centers (DCCs) during the program conducted. The opening prayer was led by Mrs. Rosario Verdejo, a daycare worker (DCW) in Brgy. Pugay; the singing of the Philippine National Anthem by Ms. Cyril R. Fria, DCW of Kinalansan followed by the welcome address of Mr. Joel A. Panga, LGOO V-San Jose. The opening remark was given by Mrs. Noeca P. Villegas, the DCW Federation President, a short talk by Mrs. Helen J. Mendoza, Municipal Social Welfare and Development officer, and a message was delivered by Municipal Councilor Raymund B. Pacamarra, and the words of thanks was heard from Ms. Corazon B. Ledesma, DCW of Danlog, who at the same was the master of ceremony.
Meanwhile, intermission numbers were also rendered by the selected children of the different daycare centers from the barangays of Danlog, Mampirao, Soledad, Salogon, Kinalansan, Camagong, Manzana, Calawit, Boclod, and Tagas showcasing the many talents of the children. After the event, the DCCs were all awarded with certificates of participation.
