San Jose is located in the southern part of the Province of Camarines Sur with coordinates 13⁰ 42’ North and 123⁰ 31’ East and approximately 520 kms South of Metro manila. It has a distance of about 55 kms from Naga City and 45 kms from the Municipality of Pili, the capital town of the Province of Camarines Sur.
The municipality is bounded on the North by the municipality of Lagonoy, on the South by the municipalities of Tigaon and Sagñay, on the East by Lagonoy Gulf, and on the West by municipality of Goa. It is composed of twenty-nine (29) barangays: six (6) are classified as urban and the remaining twenty-three (23) are rural.
There are six (6) coastal barangays in the mainland of San Jose that are located at the western part of Lagonoy Gulf, namely: Sabang, Dolo, Manzana, Telegrafo, Calalahan, and Tagas. On the other hand, Barangay Adiangao is the only coastal barangay which was separated from the rest of the mainland areas of San Jose. It is located along the coast of the Caramoan Peninsula, bounded by barangays of the Municipality of Presentacion, with coordinates 13⁰ 44’ North and 123⁰ 41’ East.
