The local government unit (LGU) of San Jose marked the observance of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day on Saturday, September 27, 2014 by cleaning up the shorelines of the following seven coastal barangays, namely: Sabang, Dolo, Calalahan, Manzana, Adiangao, Tagas, and Telegrafo.

Engr. Alma Peñola, the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer (MENRO) spearheaded the activity with the specific instructions from Mayor Antonio B. Chavez to see to it that the upbeat on environmental sanitation and ecological balance must be observed particularly in the coastal barangays under the jurisdiction of the municipality.


Engr. Peñola reported that a total of 371 volunteers of the mentioned barangays simultaneously participated during the cleanup drive. Noted also among the participants were the volunteer groups from the members of 4Ps, Barangay Health Workers (BHW), Barangay Tanods, LGU College scholars, personnel from the San Jose Municipal Police Station, as well as the Barangay Captains, who spent their time and efforts to undertake the simultaneous events that started as early as 6:30 in the morning up to noontime.


The Barangay Captains present during the simultaneous activities were Ramon Conde-Brgy. Dolo, Roy Fernan Credo-Brgy. Calalahan, Marcelino Paa Jr.-Brgy. Manzana, Jojie Pilapil-Brgy. Telegrafo, Manuela Fernandez-Brgy. Adiangao, and Elma Camano-Brgy. Tagas.
