The Department of Health Regional Field Office 5 based in Legazpi City under the leadership of Regional Director Gloria Balboa, recently awards the Local Government Unit of San Jose as one of the Best Municipal Implementer of National TB Program during its 5th Salud Bikolnon Awards ceremony held last December 12, 2014 at the Oriental Hotel in Legazpi City with the theme: “Padagos an Pag-uswag kan Salud Bikolnon.”
The award was personally received by Mayor Antonio B. Chavez together with the Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Arnel P. Armea; Mrs. Carmen L. Aranes, Rural Health Unit Nurse and Mr. Rosmar V. Formalejo, Municipal Medical Technologist.
The guest speaker during the awarding ceremony was Congresswoman Lenie Robredo of the 3rd Congressional District of Camarines Sur. Other prominent political figures that were present during the occasion include Albay Governor Joel Salceda, Camarines Sur Governor Migz Villafuerte, and Legazpi City Mayor Noel Rosal, who gave a welcome message.
Director Nestor Santiago, who was also the former Director of the DOH-RFO5 was also given the opportunity to talk for and in behalf of the Acting Secretary of the Department of Health Janette L. Garin. According to Director Balboa, Director Santiago was the one who first initiated the Salud Bikolnon awards way back in 2009 during his stint as the ROH-RFO5 Regional Director.
