The local civil registration office of San Jose headed by Mrs. Muriel Abragan, in cooperation with the office of Mayor Antonio B. Chavez and Municipal Environmental and Natural Resources Office headed by Engr. Alma P. Penola, conducted a tree planting activity at the vicinity of Villafuerte-Pena High School in Brgy. Ponglon, San Jose, Camarines Sur last February 23, 2015.
In his short message, Mayor Antonio B. Chavez emphasized the equal importance of civil registration and tree planting. He said that this would account for the registered children to belong to his own community and to the society as a whole. Likewise, the tree planting activity that coincide with the civil registration month will also serve as a reminder to everybody that when we protect our environment and contribute a continuing care for it, it would also in turn protect us well.
Mrs. Abragan on her part explained the reason why there is a tree planting activity during the Civil Registration Month. She said that the relevance of tree planting is to give us the opportunity to recommit ourselves in taking care of the environment and as a legacy for the future generations.
She said further that the school was selected for the third time for the tree planting to re-emphasize to the students the continuing commitment in protecting the environment and to heed the call of greening the area. She believes that the weight of importance to have the civil registration documents is as equal to that of protecting the environment thru tree planting.
Moreover, the activity was equally participated in by the high school students and their respective classroom advisers, subject teachers and principal.
