In a communique received by Mayor Antonio B. Chavez from the regional office of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the local government unit of San Jose is one of the 37 municipalities and cities in the Bicol Region to receive the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance which is a pre-requisite for a municipality/city to qualify for the Presidential Award for Child-Friendly Municipalities and cities.

The memo issued by the office of the OIC Regional Director Elouisa T. Pastor further informed Mayor Chavez that the eligible municipalities and cities will be conferred by the Council for the Welfare of Children with the Seal anytime soon at the call of the Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children-Bicol.

Meanwhile, Mayor Chavez happily congratulated everyone for a job well done. A series of text messages were sent to concerned department heads and employees, who in one way of another, have contributed to make the town of San Jose one of the recipients for the second time of the Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance.
