To celebrate the Civil Registration Month with the theme “Pilipinong Rehistrado, Matatag na Kinabukasan ay Sigurado”, the Local Government Unit of San Jose under the administration of Mayor Antonio B. Chavez in cooperation with the Philippine Statistics Authority recently conducted the 2017 Kasalang Bayan last February 21, 2017 at San Jose Sports Complex, San Jose, Camarines Sur.
The event started with the processional of Mayor ABC together with the Municipal Vice-Mayor Virgilio E. Panuelos, the Sangguniang Bayan Members, Municipal Department Heads and the 72 registered couples. The major part of the ceremony which is the exchanging of vows was officiated by Mayor Chavez who is also the “Ninong ng Bayan”. The Tossing of Wine, Slicing of Cake, Releasing of Dove and Prosperity Dance was facilitated by Mr. Orlando Sending as demonstrated by a model couple.
Mr. Clemente S. Manaog, Provincial Statistics Officer gave his message to the couples as the guest speaker of the event. He reminded the newlyweds on updating their documents especially those who already have children in order for them to become legitimate. He stressed on giving an advice to center the Almighty God in their lives to make their relationships stronger. He also emphasized that the decreasing number of participants in Kasalang Bayan is a manifestation that couples are already prioritizing marriage before living together.
The presence of Governor Miguel Luis Villafuerte gave an upbeat to the newly married couples as he delivered an inspirational message. He reiterated that despite of being single the most important thing he can advise to the couples is to put God always in the center of their relationship as what Mr. Manaog also said. He also sponsored One (1) sack of rice and One Thousand Pesos (P1,000.00) to every couple as a sort of gift on their wedding day.
Gov. Migz also extended his gratitude especially to Mayor ABC for always responding positively to higher directives, thus, making the said event possible; likewise to the Municipal Civil Registrar, Ms. Ma. Christine C. Remiter and also to all the Barangay Secretaries for performing their duties on looking for the unmarried couples on their respective barangays to be registered.
The event was made romantic yet energetic by love songs sung by the members of People Heritage Singers, a band from the Provincial Capitol of Camarines Sur. The ABC Cultural Dancers also gave an entertainment to the couples and the audiences as they performed a modern ethnic dance number. The said event is the 7th year for the annual Kasalang Bayan which started in 2010.
