The local government of San Jose under the administration of Mayor Antonio B. Chavez and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) headed by Mrs. Helen J. Mendoza distributed checks on September 23, 2014 worth ₱70,000 for each of the 97 beneficiaries of the Core Shelter Assistance Project (CSAP) in a simple ceremony held inside the San Jose Sports Complex.
Mrs. Mendoza said that each CSAP beneficiary will be constructing their individual houses within the allocated 100 square meters land area in their respective barangays. The house has two bedrooms, a kitchen and a living area. She stressed that the beneficiaries were all recommended by their respective incumbent and/or former Punong Barangays which were consequently verified by the MSWD office.
The MSWD chief also said that the budget of said housing project was obtained from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in the amount of more than ₱6.7 million and that 10% or ₱679,000.00 is the counterpart of the LGU San Jose. This is the first batch of housing recipients under the administration of Mayor Chavez, she stressed. There would be several other housing projects that will be undertaken in the future.
Accordingly, the following barangays were allocated with their respective number of beneficiaries, namely: Sabang – 5; Catalotoan – 34; Salogon – 12; Telegrafo – 6; Pugay – 16; Bagacay – 13; Tominawog – 10 and Dolo with only one beneficiary. At present, the office of the Mayor is still identifying possible areas that can be utilized for its housing projects which areas need to be approved by the Mines & Geological Bureau (MGB), the authority to confirm that such area is viable for the construction of houses.
The distribution of checks was personally done by Mrs. Corazon Miña, the Assistant Regional Director of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Region V (Bicol) assisted by Mayor Chavez and witnessed by Municipal Councilors Domingo A. Tam Jr., Hassan Durante, Raymund Pacamarra and Julian Bausa.
Mayor Chavez said during his short message that this is just the beginning of housing assistance projects that his administration has been working to achieve. He is thankful to the municipal councilors present who worked diligently in the Sangguniang Bayan for the approval of the resolution needed to pursue the said housing assistance project.
